Help successful students enter university or college

29/01/12

In September last year, we have celebrated the success of secondary school students who have passed their final WAEC exams with excellent results. We are now looking for patrons who would be willing to help us finance their studies at Ghana universities or colleges. Help us encourage the talent and ambition of these young Ghanaians.

Jennifer and Florence passed with flying colours, reaching grade A in more than one subject. They would like to study at a local university (University of Ghana, University of Education Winneba). They are among the students from the rural Ga district who have gone through their primary and secondary education benefiting from the support of Humanitas Afrika because their families could not afford to pay their school fees and other expenses associated with their education.

Their patrons alone cannot afford to carry the financial responsibility of covering the fees in full, therefore we are looking for more supporters. The average university fees amount to around 20-25 thousand in Czech Crowns in the first year, and around 15 thousand in the subsequent years. The cost vary depending on the course.

Most other students would like to go to a college – either a teacher training college or nurse training. The funding for these students is required only for the first year of their study, the following years are covered by the state. These students include Emmanuel Attare, Abigail Adjei Dansoa, Ibrahim Abdallah, Kwaku Nanedzitor.
